Paying for Long-Term Care: Fees, Deposits and Planning
What the monthly fee covers, what a deposit is for, and questions to ask any home.
Long-term care is a significant financial commitment, and vague pricing makes it harder than it needs to be. Here is exactly how our fees work — and what to ask any home you are comparing.
Our Fee
There is one kind of accommodation here: a bed in a shared residence, with twenty-three beds for men and twenty for women, kept separate. Fees start from RM 2,300 a month, subject to terms and conditions. We do not offer private or semi-private rooms, so there is no tier to be upsold into.
The fee covers nursing care, meals, laundry, housekeeping, the activity programme and the monthly psychiatrist review. It is confirmed in writing before anyone moves in, and a one-time refundable deposit equal to one month's fee applies.
Questions to Ask Any Home
- What exactly is included, and what is billed separately?
- What is the staffing ratio overnight, not just during tours?
- How and when can fees change, and with what notice?
- What are the deposit and refund terms if things don't work out?
- Is medication administration documented, and can I see the records?
A good home answers all five without hesitation.
